Treadmill: Replacing belt, motor control and drive belt

I am replacing the belt, motor control board and drive belt. For the motor control board, the calibration after installation includes letting the treadmill run at top speed. But I can't check the alignment of the belt until I can get the motor control board installed. I am worried the belt will be off center or too loose to run safely at the max speed needed for calibration.
Any advice?

    Leave the walking belt very loose and just calibrate unit, once unit is calibarted then adjust your walking belt.
