Sole F80 Low speed error - no belt movement

On our 2011 F80, currently the drive motor will not start and of course no belt movement. To get the treadmill to go in the past, one had to manually push the belt by foot for a minute or so and then the motor would kick eventually in. If the belt is not pushed, the console will eventually display low speed error.

After speaking with SOLE technical service and $280 later for a new control board, the drive motor still will not start and continues to show a Low speed error. The speed sensor has been cleaned and realigned to come extremely close to the magnet on the front drive roller and the respective LED on the control board lights accordingly when passing the magnet.

Using a 20v battery from a portable power drill, wired directly to the motor, the motor does in fact start and run.

Is is possible that the motor has possibly become weak and will not start at a low speed with low voltages? Any thoughts and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • How long has it been since you changed your belt? If the motor works with the drill it might just be the belt needs lubed or changed...
  • Thanks. Thought the exact same thing so replaced the belt at the same time as the controller. However, the belt that drives the front roller was not put back on so the motor doesn’t even start without any load ( ie worn walk belt). Bad motor?
  • Really sounds like to have a bad motor.
