Treadmill belt starts fast then stops

My Nordic Track Viewpoint NTL2495 - Just recently began having this issue. After turning the treadmill on and selecting a desired speed. The belt starts so fast it almost throws me off the machine. Then stops. The readout on the display still indicates the selected speed even though the belt is not turning. Do in need a Motor Control Board?
