trouble with belt

I purchased a used nordictrac A2050 treadmill, is seems to be working ok but i kept getting what i thought were little blobs of grease on the carpet. When i put it in the storage position to exam it i notice the belt was rubbing high on the belt guides on both guides and what i thought was grease was actually rubber from the belt rubbing high on the guides. The belt is 20 inches wide which i was told is the correct width but the guides are spaced about 18inches wide and they are fixed there is no adjustment. Any suggestions??? is my belt to wide??

Belt is the correct size, but make sure the underside of the belt is rubbing on the guides, not the top or black part of belt. Also you can unscrew the guides on some units and then screw them back into the deck a little further apart.
