NordicTrack Commercial 2450 speed not right

I have model no. NTL17219.1. I recently replaced the controller to solve another problem, and now it seems the speed is out of calibration. I believe this because when I set the speed to the same setting as when I work on a treadmill at the local gym, I have no problem at the gym but I struggle with my machine. I know the problem is with my machine rather than the one at the gym because I've tried several at the gym, with the same result.

When I searched online I found a procedure to calibrate the speed: remove the safety key, press the Start and Speed+ keys simultaneously, then replace the key. But that site said this procedure doesn't work on all models, and it doesn't on mine.

Is there another way to calibrate the speed? Any other suggestions?

I did calibrate the incline, thinking I may have been running slightly uphill, but it made no difference.

  • Make sure they have the ground wire connected. I was able to get one to do this when I left the ground unhooked just now. Also run the speed from 1-10 and back down a few times very slowly. It takes the machine just a little bit to learn its voltage outputs since they don’t use a speed sensor. Once I did this my test machine ran fine.
