NordicTrack Commercial 2450 goes ka-thump, belt sticks

The belt sticks and makes a periodic (every few seconds) ka-thump noise. The noise is hard to hear before I step on the belt, but when walking or running, the sticking and noise are noticeable even at low speed, and the noise is louder at higher speeds. The deck is lubricated, the belt tension is right, and the belt and deck seem to be in good shape. The drive belt also looks fine: tension seems right, no evidence of cuts or excessive wear. The rollers also seem fine, no loud noise like I heard before when the front roller bearing went out, just a soft, steady whine which seems normal. The red light on the motor control board (which I recently replaced) blinks quickly, which I think is normal.

Comments

  • I would lube belt really good and let it soak in overnight. Thumping noise is normally the seam going over front and rear rollers.
  • Did it. The thumping noise is gone but the belt still drags when I walk or run on it. I tightened the belt (1/4 turn each side), didn't help. Other ideas?
