Nordictrack C2270 Smell Running

Hello

While using the treadmill the display went in and out and the tread stopped. I unplugged the tread and plugged back in. The unit is emitting a stink when running. Opening up the section with the motor, I get a whiff of the smell from the fan side of the motor (rear) Can I assume the motor is having issues and needs replacement?

    Could be the drive motor is going, but could be cause by a worn walking belt, have ever lube or replace the walking belt?
