Proform Treadmill 600i shutting off and resetting

I've had my treadmill going on 7 years now and in the past year it randomly shuts off like it overloads and then resets after about 30 sec. I still use it but i can no longer go over 6mph for long periods of time. I usually stay around 5.8 but it still happens and i sometimes can get around 10+ miles and sometimes 2 miles. I've read that it could be the walking belt creating friction but not sure if i should buy a new belt or just buy new treadmill. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Sounds like a worn walking belt, if you contuine to use it you could damage the lower board or motor. Walking / running belts normally only last about 6 to 8 years before they need to be replaced.
