Horizon T500 burning smell
I have a Horizon T500 that is about 14 years old. It had sat for about 10 years unused. When we started it up we started getting a burning rubber smell that worsened until the motor died. I got a new motor and the smell started up again. The walking belt looks good and I lubed it. But now I’m noticing black dust in the drive belt area. Could the drive belt be the source of the smell? It looks good and I don’t see any cracks but I’m wondering if it could be too old at about 14. I’m wondering if it is too stiff or dried out even though it doesn’t seem to be slipping. Would the drive belt be the next thing to try?

It is either friction in the belt or a bad wiring connection - change out the drive belt and check for scorching in any of the wiring...
there is also a test for the motor to make sure it has not been cooked...
