Horizon Sprint 8 speeds up at incline

Hello- searched the forum and online for anyone posting similar issues, but had no luck finding anything. Hope this isnt a repeat question for the board.

Purchased a Horizon Sprint 8. When setting speed (1.7) and increasing incline, the belt speeds up as I use and doesnt keep to any set speed at all, making incline worthless. Is this a typical issue?

    Clarification - unit is a Horizon 7.4 AT. even at lowest speed, belt just goes fast as incline starts. Display doesnt change, speed stays the same on display, but belt just starts running rampant.

    Before I pull the trigger on this, let me ask- would this still be the case if the unit is controlling speed fine when the treadmill is at 0% elevation?

    Sounds like a short in the controller
