Problem with a ProForm Carbon TL treadmill

I bought this treadmill, used, about a year and a half ago. It worked great until last week. Now, shortly after turning it on starting to use it, the speed of the belt will drop to nothing, and even when it is running at the correct speed, the calorie counter is counting much slower than it did before. Some days I can get about 20 minutes of use out of it, and others, like today, only about 90 seconds before it the belt stops. It will gradually slow down and then come to a complete stop. It acts like the motor is struggling. I can't tell if it's an issue with the motor or the circuitry that controls the motor.

I have not lubricated the belt, as the owners manual specifically says not to lube the belt.

TIA for any help that can be provided. I'm more than capable of diagnosing it and fixing it if I can only be pointed in the right direction for what to look at.

  • Well, when I went to take the motor leads off the board for the motor controller, the spade connection mounted to the board pulled off the board, so I obviously need a board. How much do you sell one for?

Before I went to test the motor, I tried to use the treadmill. After about a minute and a half, the motor slowed to a crawl. I noticed that when I stepped off the treadmill with it still on, the motor speeded back up to the speed it was set at. I stepped on and off treadmill a few times, and every time I stepped on it it slowed down, and every time I stepped off, it sped back up.

Also, what should I use, if anything, to lube the belt on this ProForm treadmill.

  • I've replaced the motor control board and the motor, and lubed the belt. The first time I went to use it, it only made it 18 minutes before slowing to a crawl.

    I

Today, the second time I tried to use it, it made it 45 min.

The calorie counter is still going a lot slower than it was before.
  • Not sure about calorie counter , but if the units starts to stop on you again, you may need to replace walking belt.
