Marks down right side of Treadmill belt

My treadmill belt over the last few days has developed some white marks down the right side of the belt, it is as though the something has marked it evenly, the marks are about 1inch in from right side of belt and about 2inches wide, i have removed the cover and there is nothing in the motor area that i can see that can touch it. if i rub my hand over the parts that aren't marked and onto the parts that are it feels rougher on the marked area.

any one have any ideas as to what could have caused these issues

could be a belt guide rubbing the top part of belt.
